PRAYERFUL BLESSINGS for a BLESSED THANKSGIVING for YOU and YOUR FAMILY

President’s Message

Dear Sisters,

Fall is on its way.  Along with fall comes our busy time of the year.  After the hot summer we had, let’s hope that the weather is comfortable for the many activities planned.  I have appointed a special committee to look into our Ways and Means (Fund Raising Events).  The committee consists of Les Collier, Grace DeLise, Catherine Haynes, June McJunkin, Patti Reardon, and Barbara Smith.  If you have any ideas of how we can support our working account please call one of these members.  Over the past few years we lost some very good fundraisers for our institute.  We are in need of new ones to replace those we lost.  Presently our funds are very low.  We are looking at an immediate solution and long range planning.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.  This goes with the Grand President’s Program because we are to be good to ourselves so we can continue the support of our programs.  God bless each one of you!

Institute #252 Organized

June McJunkin, Barbara Smith, Nita Singh-Dhalliwal, Patti Reardon, Pat Giertych, and Carol Horning were among the 160 guests present at the Organization of St. Teresa Benedicta #252 in Novato, California on August 20th
The members of this institute felt the guidance of Saint Teresa Benedicta at their last pre-organization meeting on August 9th.  This is the feast day of the saint.
Pope John Paul II canonized Teresa Benedicta on October 11, 1998.  She was born Edith Stein to a Jewish family in Germany on October 12, 1891.  A brilliant philosopher, she converted to Catholicism at the age of 31 and entered the Carmel of Cologne in 1933.  She suffered martyrdom at the hands of the Nazis in 1942 at Auschwitz.
“O my God, fill my soul with holy joy, courage and strength to serve You.  Enkindle Your love in me and then walk with me along the next stretch of road before me.  I do not see very far ahead, but when I have arrived where the horizon now closed down, a new prospect will open before me, and I shall meet it with peace.”  Saint Teresa Benedicta

Note of Thanks!

Dear YLI Sisters,
Many, many thanks for all of the cards, prayers, flowers, and good wishes.  I feel truly blessed to have so many lovely sisters.  I have always wanted a sister.  Now I have many.  God does answer our prayers.  Thank you all again.
With sisterly love,

Carol Barca

Special Thanks!

Thank you to Mary Gunderson for opening her home for our July social.  Those attending stretched their minds figuring our multiple choices quotes and Latin Phrases.  All enjoyed ice cream sundaes or banana splits.

Parish Ministry Faire
September 23 & 24
We will need members to help pass out material for YLI membership.  Father Bong has asked us to help sell books on those days also.
More information will follow as to time and place.  This will be a perfect opportunity of YLI members to model our gift of parish and community support.
PRAY!    PRAY!   PRAY!
Please pray for our ill YLI members, elderly, lonely and infirmed sisters, and all of our family members, friends, and parishioners.
Please continue to pray
for our parish and our deceased members, family, and friends.  Pray for World Peace and inner peace for those suffering from emotional stress and turmoil.

May God Bless You!

Membership
All members should be seriously promoting membership into our Institute.  We need the gifts and talents these new members can bring to our organization.  Please encourage your friends to join.  We have many diverse activities planned.  Come join in one new event this year to meet our members.  I participated in the visiting committee this summer.
I loved it.  It is a rewarding, and fulfilling task.

Christ the King Retreat
Oct. 20th – 22nd
We will be sending one member on the Retreat.  If you are interested in having your name in the drawing please let Pat Giertych
know by the September 14th business meeting.  The drawing will be held at that meeting.
Spiritual Moment
At our meetings, Mary Gunderson is presenting a brief script about the saints or title of Mary that is part
of our installation of officers ceremony.  At the August meeting Saint Cecilia, patroness of our Organist was read.
St. Cecilia is the patron of Organists, Musicians, and Blind People.  Her feast day is November 22.
