News from our President Dear Sisters, After the last supper John’s gospel recounts a beautiful prayer Jesus prayed for his apostles and ultimately the whole church. The theme of the prayer was unity. In his book, Authenticity: a biblical theology of discernment, Father Tom Dubay states, “Being lead by the Holy Spirit always ends in unity.” He also believes that the presence of God in our midst is always revealed by our desire and joy to be united with one another. As members of YLI, are you inclusive or exclusive? Are you full of hope or filled with doubt? Does gossip start with you or end with you? Do you jump in and lend a helping hand or do you sit back and wait to be asked? Do you feel supported and understood or resentful and ignored? If an outsider were to make a movie of the last 6 months of our YLI activities, would there be enough evidence to show that the Holy Spirit is in our midst? Would you even be in the video? If you think YLI is just another “organization” for women to join, you’re missing the hidden blessings inherent in this institute, and that is “Basking in the Grace of God that flows from the presence of the Holy Spirit”. Yes, I truly believe we are united in the Holy Spirit, who constantly embraces our acts of charity, sisterly love, and fun filled moments with love and compassion for ourselves and each other. We are more than an organization ladies, we are the living presence, through the power of the Holy Spirit, of God in our midst. Thank you for helping me build up the Kingdom of God one living act of kindness at a time. Thank you for making me feel connected and supported by your commitment to our institute.
