President’s Message

April & May

Dear Sisters,

As we come to the closing of my year as President, I have learned a lot about YLI and what we are all about. I am very blessed to have this opportunity to get to know my sisters here locally and throughout the District. Thank you to all who have supported me with all that they do, especially when they stepped up and volunteered without being asked. What a great group of ladies. Special thank you's to the ladies who visit our sick members and those who call those who cannot participate but are still strong YLI sisters in Christ. Our Deputy Marilynn, who faithfully attended our monthly meetings with her companions, thank you for the guidance and the messages.

Golden Jubilee Burse Presentation
Bishop Jaime Soto presided at a special Mass with Fr. Francisco and Fr. Cormac concelebrating with him on April 24, 3010. The Knights of Columbus Color Guard provided the honor guard for the Bishop. Mass was followed by lunch at the Plaza Room in Hillcrest Plaza. A delicious buffet lunch was served. The committee and the caterer received many compliments for the selections. Jerry and Patti provided a lovely, yummy cake for the occasion. The highlight of the day was the presentation of the check to Bishop Soto. June McJunkin, Grand 2nd Vice President, presented Bishop Soto with a check for $13,698.25 from the thirteen institutes in the Sacramento Diocese. Seventy-two members and guests were served lunch.

Prayer Pals
We have started a new spiritual Project in the Institute, called Prayer Pals. Three names are drawn each month and the members pray for them. The names drawn go back into the Prayer Box and can be drawn again. Names for May and June are Carol Barca, Ruth Robison, Rosa Saldivar, Juanita Haase, Mary Basterrechea, and Janette Perry.

Members are asked to wear Hawaiian attire and bring a salad to share.
Dessert will be provided by the committee.

along with statistics on the benefit
to the Yuba Sutter area.

Bring unwrapped baby clothes and supplies to be donated to A Woman's Friend.
