President’s Message Dear Sisters, It is nearing the end of my term as President. I have enjoyed the many spiritual moments and events; the special social and community projects; also the many ways the institute raised money this year. Members took the Grand President's Program, "What you can do to YLI" to heart. Thank you! I found this while cleaning through my e-mail treasures. I found this enlightening. There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails in the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things that hurt another, they leave a scar just like this one. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make one smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us." YOU ARE MY FRIEND IN YLI AND I AM HONORED! Please forgive me if I have ever left a hole. God Bless Each of You! Carol Horning |

District 7 Spring Conference Thank you to Sandee Paez and her committee for the "Picnic Lunch". A GREAT JOB LADIES! St. Isidore YLI #235 won the attendance award. Four years ago in 2003 when we hosted the Spring Conference, it was the first event in the New Parish Hall Dining Room. I believe that Betty Chaires was the District Deputy. |
The Golden Jubilee Burse Mass The Annual Golden
Jubilee Burse presentation for the Sacramento Diocese was held on
April 28th in Anderson and was hosted by Shasta #144. Fr. Brian Atienza

inspirational Mass and a lovely lunch were enjoyed by June McJunkin,

Community Outreach
YLI has been very supportive in donating items to the Fountains for bingo prizes. Items are needed for all occasions. Ladies, Continue to keep those toiletry items for Casa De Esperanza. You may bring items to the meeting or call Sue West, a former member who continues to do this for YLI.
