President’s Message

Dear Sisters,

Thank you are such small words, but they mean so much and encompass so many. Thank you to all of you who provided food for my daughter's funeral reception and to the ladies on the bereavement committee. You all worked so hard. Our family truly appreciated everything. Thank you to Pat Fontana and her committee for the great job on the Grand President's Official visit. Congratulations Mary Perry, YLLI"s SDCCW Woman of the Year. Thank you Carol Horning and Lucille Berg for all of their hard work on the Day of Recollection.
Wow! Barbara smith pulled it off...a wonderful Fashion Show Tea. I want to thank Barbara and her committee for a job well done. Thank you to the models-women and children. A special "Thanks" to Merl Larson and Bill Dhalliwal for modeling men's wear. John Berg and Bill Dhalliwal were a great asset asset helping the ladies up the step of the stage. Past Grand President, Pat Fontana, did a great job of commentator. A great round of applause for J. C. Penney for coming through at such short notice. Mary Gunderson's collection of table settings along with members' tea pots decorated the tables in fashion. Many thanks!

Fashion Show Tea

Our Fashion Show Tea was held on March 28, 2009 with between
70-80 people in attendance. We had a profit of $612.00. Many people contributed to the success of the event. Mary Gunderson provided lovely glass dessert dishes, teacups and saucers, sugar and creamers for all of the tables. She also decorated hundreds of sugar cubes. Mary also made cute magnets with teapots and message of friendship for each guest. Jerry Himenes baked and hand decorated over 100 teapot shaped cookies. She also organized the preparation of the finder sandwiches. Patti Reardon and Lucille Berg baked flower, heart, and star-shaped loaves of bread. Other individuals who helped in many ways were, Nita Singh-Dhalliwal, Pat Fontana, Leona Field, June McJunkin, Adri Sartorio, Maria Hueffner, and Pauline Pennington. About a dozen students from St. Isidore's School worked as servers. They were great. We will make a donation to the 7th and 8th grade classes.
A special "thank you" to Ann Scoggins from Penney's for her assistance and fashions.

Conference - District 7

Gemma #75 in Sutter Creek will be the hostess of this Conference. Lunch is free. Attendance is important for officers and members. This a very good way to meet other members of our District. Carpool information will be available at the May meeting. Please let June McJunkin or Barbara Smith know if you are attending.

Day of Recollection
at
Queen of Angels Oratory

A lovely reflective day was had at Queen of Angels Oratory on March 21st. About 15 ladies participated in the day. Thank you to Lucille Berg for leading us in Benediction with song and prayer. Thank you to Cille Ibbotson for providing mini muffins and fruit for the morning get together. We reflected on the Psalms and shared our favorite Psalm. Thank you to the members and guest who helped make this a very special day.
