President’s Message Dear Sisters, Spring is here! Flowers are blooming, trees are budding, and members are renewing their spirit in Jesus Christ during this Lenten and Easter Season. I would like to thank Jennifer Martinez and her committee for the wonderful lunch and the opportunity for enriching our knowledge at our Lenten Retreat. Thank you to all who participated in the Quarterly Communion on the Third Saturday in Lent. Thanks to everyone who served in some capacity during the Mass. Thank you to Emmy Yandall for taking over the meeting for me with little notice. I regret that I missed the Birthday Dinner. I understand that the food was delicious and a fun time was had by all. Congratulations to those members with over twenty five years in St. Isidore #235. Let's give Nita Singh Dhalliwal a cheer for her time and effort in organizing the Annual Birthday Dinner. This year our chairperson for "Mary's Way of the Cross", Bev Vignery, suggested that we have this on Friday evening during the scheduled Stations of Cross since there was a Parish Penance service on Thursday evening. It was wonderful! Many of our members participated along with members of the parish. Bev made copies for the parishioners to read along. Mary Basterrechea helped Bev in leading the Stations. After they finished, many asked if we would do it again next year. Thank you to Jan Casey and the bereavement committee for stepping in and helping our sister and Institute Deputy, Pat Carvo, during her time of sorrow and need. Wow! How wonderful it is to belong to this wonderful group of Catholic women. Thank you for the prayers for my husband (O.J.) and daughter (Kim) during March. O.J. came through his first hospital visit with flying colors.. Kim and her newborn son Kyle are doing fine. Witnessing the birth of a baby really brings meaning to the miracle of life. May the Easter Season bring each one new life in your Catholic Faith. May the Risen Lord bring you peace and love. Carol Horning |

One Flaw in Women Women have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart. Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning. They bring joy, hope and love. They have compassion and ideas. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have vital things to say and everything to give. HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN, IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH |

WELCOME NEW YLI MEMBERS:
Juanita Haase and Rita Pottibaum
Lenten Retreat The Lenten retreat, Christ and His Church: A Paradox of Steadfastness and Change, was attended by a small group of people (17 YLI members and two couples) and eagerly listened to Deacon Eldon's words of wisdom about Christ as the Word of God, the Season of Lent, and the importance of the Vatican/Mother Church in our lives. Adri Sartorio made the best chili this side of the Mississippi. Mary Gunderson brought homemade cornbread. Aside from a burst of laughter from the kitchen which interrupted Eldon's talk, the day was a complete success. I want to thank my committee members, Catherine Haynes (Lector for the Liturgy of the Hours), Janise Capaul and Barbara Smith (registration), and Barbara Dozier, Adri Sartorio, and Cory Ubaldo (helped in the kitchen). Thanks to the institute for supporting this valuable spiritual acitivity.Jennifer Martinez, Chr. |
A NOTE FROM THE BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE:
A big thanks to all of our ladies for the wonderful food that was given for the
funeral reception for Al Carvo. Ladies, you really outdid yourselves. Many thanks to all!
Happy
Birthday April Sisters...
