Pre-Synod 2004 Meetings
April 23 & 24

On Friday and Saturday, April 23 &24, delegates and other representatives to the Diocesan Synod 2004 attended a pre-synod meeting. These representatives from the 98 parishes in the Sacramento Diocese had the choice of attending one of the two days, averaging about 350 persons on each of the days. The meetings were held in St. Isidore's Community Parish Hall.

After the initial introductions an orientation and overview was provided by diocesan representatives, in order to provide some definition to the responsibilities to be conducted by the delegates and the environment in which they will and should be conducting these tasks. It was noted that the delegates will be responding to the call of God. Further, during their discussions and deliberations they should expect conflict - healthy conflict so that all aspects can be noted and avenues of action determined.

In preparation for these meetings, the parishes like us here at St. Isidore, provide parish-wide Speak Up sessions, affording parishioners the opportunity to voice their concerns and recommendations for addressing the challenges of the Parish Community and Faith Formation Themes identified by the Diocesan Preparatory Committee. Now, over the next 5 months, the delegates will flesh out recommendations, goals, and task statements which they will present to the full Synod meeting October 11 through October 13, 2004. We pray for our Diocese, our parish communities and ask the Holy Spirit to guide our delegates and representatives.

Below are several pictures of this two day meeting, provided by our Pastor, Fr. Soria and one of our delegates, Ken Rishe.

Many thanks go out to our St. Isidore Parishioners who gave of their time to volunteer to make this a successful two days with fellow Catholics from throughout the Diocese. You make us PROUD!
