St. Isidore School Fence
As our parish's new Parish Community Hall construction project was approaching its completion, a school project was initiated for the safety of our children. The intent was to fence off the play ground from any open traffic movement that would flow to the new parish hall. The project was broken off into small phases. A chain link fence was to be installed by the parish and a wrought iron fence with remaining fencing would follow. Planning, fund raising and work began in April 2003. It is important to note that 2 major donors to this project were an insurance company and an Auburn law firm. Thanks go out to our parishioners and school parents who have supported this project.
The fence contractor and Joe Saavedra of our parish (and School Advisory Board President) worked out the details of the design. The school's Cross and Dove logo were to be a main theme within the wrought iron construction, so each fence panel was constructed with a heart and a cross and the cross and dove were placed on the main entrance gate. Much of this detail work was donated by the contractor, Eagle Ornamental Iron.
The contractor installed the posts in early May which provided our parishioner volunteer workers a couple weekends to pour a mow strip. This was completed in early June and the fence was completed in early August, prior to the beginning of the school year..
There may be some future "tweaking" of the project with some additional fencing. But what is most important is to note that this project is a great example of people coming together and coming to a successful conclusion. Everyone who helped out with Time, Talent and Treasure should feel proud of this effort. Thank you.
