Blue Mass - March 15, 2005
On March 15, 2005 our St. Isidore Knights
of Columbus Council #5978 held its first Blue Mass. This Mass, celebrated
by our pastor Fr. Manuel Soria, was offered in recognition of and to honor
all peace officers in the local community. Personnel who attended came from
the Sheriff, Police, Fire and California Highway Patrol departments. Also,
in attendance were city and county court officials and correctional officers.
Departmental honor guards presented our national, state and departmental colors.
The 4th Degree Knights from the Santa Maria Assembly #1959 also provided the
processional honor guard for our pastor at Mass. Readings within the Mass
were provided by departmental representatives and following Fr. Soria's Homily
of gratitude in honor of our local peace officers, Grand Knight Joe Fisher
also provided a thankful message. A reception was held following Mass in our
parish hall. Below are pictures from our local event, the first of an intended
tradition to be continued.
