Disciples in Mission
continuing as
Disciples On The Journey

Two thousand years ago, Jesus told his followers:

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age"
(Matthew 28:19-20).

How It Works:
St. Isidore's Parish continues its Disciples in Mission program as the Disciples On The Journey. A parish Mission of Small Faith-Sharing Groups will meet during Lent as we have in the past. The original Disciples in Mission program was a 3-year program that concluded in the year 2004. However, pursuant to request of many parishioners, the model for the program will continue as the Disciples On The Journey. The model remains the same just the group faith-sharing booklets have been updated. These booklets will be used during the Lenten Parish Mission.

Before Lent Parish workshops for small group leaders.
Lent Faith-sharing groups meet. Family activities carried out.
After Easter The Parish Reflection Day affirms evangelizing ministries in the parish and surfaces new ideas for the future.
Late Fall Parish leaders reflect on their experience with Disciples in Mission and plan the next year.

How You Can Participate:

Pray Pray for the success of the Disciples on the Journey Parish Mission.
Join a Small Group Groups meet six times during Lent to discuss the Sunday lectionary readings. The word of God will come alive, and you will be able to relate it to your everyday life. You will learn more about Scripture, take part in some interesting discussions, meet some wonderful people, and have the opportunity to build up the Body of Christ. Joining a group is a great way to enter fully into Lent and to prepare for Easter.
Involve Your Family Families with children from preschool age to teens can listen to the word of God together, do activities, grow close to God, and have fun in the process. This part of Disciples program and Parish Mission ensures that families - who often find it difficult to participate in parish programs - are an integral part of this evangelization experience.
Listen to the Homily During the Sundays of Lent, our clergy present homilies that address the weekly scriptural readings that you have studied in your groups. These homilies support participating parishioners reflections upon the Sunday readings in light of Jesus' evangelizing mission.
Attend the Parish Reflection Day After Easter, everyone in the parish will have a chance to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of the parish as an evangelizing community, and participate in the development of the Parish Pastoral Plan.
Live as a Disciple Through discernment and planning, the parish affirms existing evangelizing ministries and undertakes new ones, with a new vitality. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in participating in parish activities. Also, ask for the commitment and the courage to serve as a witness for Christ in your family, neighborhood, and workplace..
