SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION

Sacramental preparation is necessary for new families who need their children to receive any of the Sacraments.  See the parish secretary or the Director of Religious Education of St. Isidore’s Parish.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Preparation is a two-year process beginning in first grade.  Sessions are also available for older children who would like to prepare for First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation (Confession).  Those who are older have to be in the Religious Program before they receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

FIRST RECONCILIATION (Confession): Children are prepared to celebrate this sacrament before they receive First Holy Communion.  All parents are expected to assist in the sacramental preparation of their children and to attend meetings for this purpose.

CONFIRMATION: This is a two-year program.  This sacrament is celebrated at a time when young people can make a personal commitment to take an active part in the growth of their faith.  The student must make a free and personal decision.  Teens are expected to fully participate in the program to make sure they have sufficient knowledge and understanding of Catholic beliefs, traditions and practice.

CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN (RCIC): This is a process for children above the age of 7 who are not yet baptized or who have been baptized in another Christian tradition.  It requires full participation of Initiation: Baptism Preparation Program.  Contact the Parish Office at (530) 673-1574.

INFANT BAPTISM: Baptism is celebrated upon completion of the Parent Baptism Preparation Program.  Contact the Parish Office at (530) 673-1574.

NOTE: Each child must undergo two years of Religious Education instruction before receiving the Sacraments.
