The Parts of the Mass (2)

The second part or Liturgy of the Word is the first banquet that God prepares for us every Sunday.

Yes, remember that is God himself that talks not only to His people but to each one of us personally. For this reason, it is very important to be attentive during the Readings to clearly hear the message God has for me today.

There are three Readings taken from the different books in the Bible. Regularly we will hear one Reading from the Old Testament, one from the Letters in the New Testament, and the main one, one from the Gospels.

After the first Reading, there is always the response to the Word of God. The people respond with a Psalm that is a beautiful song that praises and thanks God for his wonders. After listening to the Word of God, we proclaim our faith in the Trinity and the Church with the Creed.

We conclude this second part with the Intercessions or the Prayer of the Faithful we pray for the needs of the universal Church, the world, the nations, and the particular needs of the community and the people present at Mass.

Las Partes de la Misa (2)

La segunda parte o Liturgia de las Horas es el primer banquete que Dios prepara para nosotros cada domingo.

Sí, recuerden que es Dios mismo quien habla no solamente a su pueblo sino a cada uno de nosotros personalmente. Por esta razón es muy importante estar atento durante las Lecturas para entender claramente el mensaje que Dios tiene para mi hoy.

Son tres lecturas tomadas de los diversos libros de la Biblia. Regularmente escuchamos una lectura del Antiguo Testamento, otra de las cartas del Nuevo Testamento y la principal, una lectura de los Evangelios.

Después de la Primera Lectura, el pueblo responde a la Palabra de Dios con un Salmo, el cual es un bello canto que alaba a Dios y le agradece sus maravillas. Después de proclamar la Palabra de Dios, proclamamos nuestra fe en la Trinidad y la Iglesia al rezar el Credo.

Terminamos la segunda parte con la Oración de los Fieles o peticiones al pedir por las necesidades de la Iglesia universal, el mundo, las naciones y las necesidades particulares de la comunidad y de las personas presentes en Misa.
