The Annointing of the Sick (3) - La Unción de los Enfermos (3)
Catechesis The Anointing of the Sick is a beautiful celebration of forgiveness, healing, hope, and love. When calling the priest ahead of time and with the sick person not in danger of death, this occasion gives him/her three Sacraments at a time: Reconciliation, Anointing, and Holy Communion. Yes, it is encouraged to start with individual confession of the sins to receive the absolution; then the family gathers to celebrate the Anointing where everybody also ask for forgiveness; then we hear the Word of God, especially a passage from the Gospel that talks about healing and trusting in God. Later we have the prayer of intercession for the sick, the family and the caregivers. The priest then lay his hand on the person in silent prayer. It follows a prayer of thanksgiving for the blessed oil and the anointing with it on the forehead and the palms of the hands. There is always prayer, and in this case there is one appropriate for each case, namely, old age, illness, surgery, imminent death. The conclusion of the celebration is with the Our Father , the Holy Communion, and the blessing over the sick and all the members of the family present there. Catequesis La Unción de los enfermos es una bella celebración de perdón, sanación, esperanza y amor. Cuando llamamos al sacerdote con tiempo y el enfermo no está en peligro de muerte, esta ocasión le da tres Sacramentos al mismo tiempo: Reconciliación, Unción y Sagrada Comunión. Sí, se recomienda comenzar con la confesión individual de los pecados para recibir la absolución; luego se une la familia para celebrar la Unción donde todos también piden perdón de los pecados; luego escuchamos la Palabra de Dios, sobre todo un pasaje del Evangelio que nos habla de sanación y confianza en Dios. Continuamos con las peticiones por los enfermos, la familia y quienes cuidan de ellos. El sacerdote impone las manos en el enfermos en silencio. Le sigue la oración de acción de gracias por el óleo santo y la unción con éste en la frente y la palma de las manos. Siempre le sigue una oración acorde con cada caso: por un anciano, una enfermedad, antes de una cirugía o la muerte inminente. La conclusión de la celebración es con el Padre Nuestro, la Sagrada Comunión y la bendición sobre el enfermo y los miembros de la familia ahí presentes. ¡El Dios que nos salva y nos sana está ahí presente!Continuará... |
