Rev. Bernard Witek
Visiting Priest

Fr. Bernard was born and raised in the southern part of Poland, in a region named Silesia. In September 1988 he entered the novitiate of the Society of Divine Savior (Salvatorians)and in 1989, began philosophical studies at the Major Salvatorian Seminary. In May 1995 he was ordained to the priesthood.

After his ordination, he was sent to Rome for further studies in biblical theology at the Gregorian University. After completing his specialization studies (licentiate), Fr. Bernard was assigned to Tanzania in East Africa, where he performed his priestly responsibilities for two years at the Salvatorian Institute of Philosophy and Theology. In 2005 hew was appointed Rector of the Institute.

In the year 2000 he returned to Rome for the doctoral studies. Those studies were successfully completed in October 2004. His research project and studies focused on the Book of Proverbs, specifically the First Solomonic Collection (Prov 10:1–22:16). Fr. Bernard's dissertation has just been published—however, it is Italian.

In January 2005 Fr. Bernard returned to Tanzania to work at the Salvatorian Institute where he is the Rector. Your are invited to visit the SALVATORIAN INSTITUTE OF PHILOSOPHY AND THEOLOGY by clicking on this link.

Fr. Bernard notes that he enjoys an interest in photography and the pictures he has sent us from Tanzania show that he has some definite skills in this area also.

Fr. Bernard has spent the last few summers here at St. Isidore fulfilling his priestly duties on our behalf and aiding our parish community, which is considered a "vacation." Thank you, Fr. Bernard.
