Altar Care Duties

  1. Take cleaning cloths from home when you go to clean, and then take them back home.  Do not leave any soiled cleaning cloths in the church.
  2. Sign out a key in the Rectory office to be able to access the Sacristy in the Church.
  3. Use Pledge on the chairs and piano in the altar area and on the long pew in the Sacristy.
  4. Use Glass Cleaner/Windex on the counter in the Sacristy.
  5. Use Glass Cleaner/Windex to clean the two (plastic-protected) side altars and the glass-topped credence table.
  6. Follow directions on the Marble Cleaner/Polish bottle and use sparingly to care for the marble on the Tabernacle altar, the main altar, the lectern/ambo, and the baptismal font.
  7. Dust the tall candles and the Tabernacle with a soft, clean cloth.
  8. If the tall, red sacristy candle is out or nearly out, replace it!
  9. Suds out and rinse the holy water fonts each week.  To refill the fonts there will always be holy water under the sink counter in the Sacristy and in the Holy Water stand in the Vestibule of the Church.  Fill the fonts to their brims!
  10. When you fill all of the fonts with fresh holy water and you have holy water remaining in the clear plastic container, please pour that remaining holy water into the silver holy water urn standing in the vestibule.  Then fill the empty plastic container with fresh tap water and place it on or near a note requesting Father to bless it.  Each time the container is filled with water it needs to be blessed.
  11. Remove all burned out candles and those with very little wax.  Place them in the trashcan.  Tidy up the candle stands by removing all matches.  Do NOT replace candles.  If glass containers are present please dispose of them.
  12. Water all of the green plants and flowers.  Remove and discard aged flowers.  Wash, dry, and store the vases in the cupboard.
  13. Straighten hymnals in the pews and raise the kneelers.
  14. Tidy the Vestibule counters and neatly stack the materials.
  15. Dust and use Pledge on the furniture in the Reconciliation Rooms.
  16. Sweep the concrete outside the entrances to the Church if necessary.
  17. When supplies need replenishing, please call Bibiana Manalansan at 674-9618.
  18. Thank you for helping to maintain our Lord’s beautiful house!
