Members of our Altar Care Ministry prepare the Altar upon completion of the Church renovation.

Altar Care Duties

1. Prior to the cleaning day, make arrangements to have the Church rooms opened that you will need to access to do your duties.

2. Take cleaning cloths from home when you go to clean.

3. Use "Pledge" on the chairs and piano in the Altar area and on the long pew in the Sacristy.

4. Use “Glass Plus” on the counter in the Sacristy.

5. Clean the high altar, side altars, and credence table with “Glass Plus”. Use “Marble Polish” and follow the directions to clean the baptismal font.

6. Dust the tall candles and the Tabernacle with a soft, clean cloth.

7. If the tall, red sacristy candle is out or nearly out, replace it!

8. Suds out and rinse the holy water fonts each week. If the holy water supply is low, place a small amount of Holy Water in a pitcher and add fresh water to it. Fill the fonts to their brims!

9. Remove all burned out candles and those with very little wax left. Place them in the trash can. Tidy up the candle stands by removing all matches. Do NOT replace candles. If glass containers are present please dispose of them.

10. Water the plants and flowers. Remove aged flowers. Wash, dry and store the vases in the cupboard.

11. Straighten hymnals in the pews and raise the kneelers.

12. Tidy the vestibule counters and neatly stack the materials.

13. Dust and use “Pledge” on the furniture in the Reconciliation Rooms.

14. Sweep the concrete outside the entrances to the Church if necessary.

15. Take your soiled cleaning cloths home. If you have extra cleaning cloths to share, please leave them in the Altar Care supply closet.
