Catholics of the Diocese of Sacramento in Defense of Religious Liberty

In March of 2012 Bishop Jaime Soto formed Parish-wide Respect Life Ministry volunteers to join into teams, one for each of the Seven Congressional Districts in Diocese of Sacramento. These teams objective was to meet with each Congressional Representative to present policy issues relative to the curtailment of and lack of protection for Religious Liberty and Freedoms of Churches and Religious Organizations.

The Team for District #2 met with Congressman Wally Herger on Monday, July 30th. Because of conflicting schedules our Bisho Soto was unable to attend in person but did participate via Conference Call on speaker phone with all of us. Pictured below are members of the team with Congressman Herger and his District Director, Fran Peace.

The meeting proved to be quite fruitful and positive. Please note that Congressman Herger is a Co-Sponsor of House Resolution 1179 that aims to correct the abuse against Religious Liberty, which remains in the Affordable Health Care Act and the Federal Health and Human Services Mandates.
